ver.di calls on security staff at several German airports to strike on 14 and 15 March 2024
The labor union ver.di has announced a strike by security personnel at the airports in Berlin (BER), Cologne/Bonn (CGN), Hamburg (HAM), Stuttgart (STR) and Karlsruhe/Baden Baden (FKB) for Thursday, 14 March 2024.
Further strikes will take place on Friday, 15 March 2024 at the airports of Dortmund (DTM), Dresden (DRS), Karlsruhe/Baden Baden (FKB), Hanover (HAJ), Leipzig (LEJ) and Weeze (NRN).
Security checks for transit areas will be closed. Access to the departure gates will therefore not be possible.
We kindly ask all guests who wish to begin their journey at one of the mentioned airports on 14 or 15 March 2024 not to come to the respective airport.
Guests who cannot reach their flight due to the ver.di strike are currently being rebooked by us. This process is our top priority. Guests whose booking has already been processed will receive information about the cancellation of their flight and, of course, rebooking options individually via email or in the Lufthansa app (provided the contact details are stored in the booking).
Due to the strike action, flight operations are expected to be disrupted and flights canceled.
For flights which have been cancelled or which have been automatically rebooked by the airline, the Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy for Travel Agents (OS/SN/LH/LX) applies.
Lufthansa Group rules for rebooking/reissue/refund for cancelled flights
Customers affected by a flight cancellation can rebook once free of charge or have their ticket refunded. You are welcome to make rebookings/reissues/refunds for cancelled flights on Austrian Airlines/Brussels Airlines/Lufthansa/SWISS tickets yourself in accordance with the Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy for Travel Agents (OS/SN/LH/LX).
No Late Night Baggage Drop at Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg and Stuttgart on 13 and 14 March 2024
Due to the strike action by the trade union ver.di, there will be no Late Night Baggage Drop at Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg and Stuttgart airports on Wednesday, 13 March and Thursday, 14 March 2024 for Eurowings flights on the following day.
